Valentine's Day 2011

And all the lovely things my beautiful romantic fiancee did for me (plus what I did for her).

My lovely lady decided to give me little gifts at two hour intervals during the course of the day, and below is a photo diary of what happened, followed by my Valentine's Day evening.

A card appears in my letterbox at work in the morning.

Inside is a lovely valentines day card with a note to come back to my drawers at 11:00 (and some lovely lovehearts sweets).

Sorry - I didn't think about taking a photo of the sweets before I had eaten them all :-S

Another card appears

which feels quite bulky and has me worried that there is a badge inside which I'm going to have to wear around the office :-D
Inside is a beautiful sparkly card (which has made my pod red and glittery) :-D

My sweetheart has found some wonderful, very romantic poems which she has put inside the card. I really like them, and I know exactly how they feel. (I also quite like the last poem 'I do' which is very funny :-D

Another small card this time

also quite bulky, but its a small item in the bottom.
Turns out there is a memory stick inside, and little note in the card.

On the memory stick are some really sweet, wonderful little music/photo videos. They are REALLY really lovely. Thank you so much my beautiful sweetheart. My things for this evening are going to suck in comparison to all this now :-D

What is this?? A box and a card this time.... :-)

A beautifully sweet message in the card from my sweetheart. And the opening of the present. What could it be?

YEY! Chocolates in the shape of cupcakes. I have a wonderful fiancee who brings sugar based treats :-D I am the luckiest :-)

And they come in a lovely box. Oooo gooey centre. Very VERY tasty. And for a rare change I like all (but one) of the flavours! That almost never happens for me with chocolates. :-)

So, it's the end of my working day, and just before I head home one last check of the drawer. This time to find a card and a present.

What's this one going to be. Well....it was a more naughty gift so I shaln't tell :-) Sorry. :-)

Alex's Valentines gifts for Sarah

Well in return for all the wonderful little gifts during the day, it was my turn to do things for the evening.
Step 1 was to take a bunch of 11 roses and hide them as individual roses around the house in locations that I knew Sarah would find them.

Next was to prepare the big dinner that I had planned for us. So what I did was take all of these ingredients and turn them into this:


How? - I'm sure I didn't here you say? Well here are pictures along the way :-)
First preparing the marinade/dressing for the steaks and coating each steak in it in preparation for cooking

Then to make the yoghurt, mint and lemon sauce and prepare the spinach, alfalfa sprout sala, and wrap the naan breads in moist baking paper for the oven

Next I needed to start frying the steaks (I was doing these medium rare - so they only had 6 minutes on the heat - and the pan was scortching hot before I put them on). Once they were cooked they came off the heat and onto the board and a light dressing of extra virgin olive oil, then covered in tin foil to keep the moisture and heat in.

Finally to cook the Paneer cheese. This was just a light cooking in olive oil, then covered in sesame seeds. Once these were cooked and coated, I placed them around the spinach salad.

Finally. To present the food to Sarah to eat :-)
