Mothering Sunday

Monday, March 15th, 2010

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

It’s about this time of year every year that it makes me stop and think just how much my mother does and has done for me and it makes me realize how lucky I am (and I’m sure many of you are) to have been cared for so much over the years, always supported, and some of the amazing things mum does for me.

Thank you for everything you do. I’m not sure how I can ever thank you enough, and I love you very much.

Platelet donation

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I am currently laying in a big seat at the blood donation clinic on New Street in Birmingham donating platelets. I have to come to the city for this due to the specialised machinery needed to spin and separate the platelets from the blood. However this added complication means that platelet donation takes around 70 minutes to do, during which you can’t move your arm or sleep (obviously). However since they return the blood to your body, and platelets replace themselves quite quickly (5 days I think) it means you can donate once a month rather than 3 times a year. Plus I can sit here and use the free wifi provided :-)
It doesn’t hurt in any way. If anything it’s slightly more comfortable than a regular whole blood donation due to the smaller needles and nicer chairs

Snow

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Lots of snow here at the moment. Woke up to find a fresh layer everywhere and the snow is still falling. This should make the roads interesting tonight (and for tmrw morning)

New phone

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

My new phone arrived yesterday via courier. Yes, I’m sure you’ve guessed it already, I have got myself a nice new iPhone 3GS. 16GB. It has been great so far. It has all the cool apps and features of my touch, but also the Internet, everywhere. Right now I’m sat away from the house blogging to you all on my phone, with it auto correcting most incorrect key presses for me. It’s very impressive.

I’ve just sent Chris out on his lunch break to pick up the new call of duty: modern warfare 2 which he so kindly offered to get for me as our local supermarket is having a sale on them and selling it for £25. Although as Sarah has just pointed out to me, after the iPhone purchase I could do with a frugal month. Plus the good food show and memoribilia this month. Hmm…. I think we all know what I’m going to do though ;-)
