Hey everyone,
Well I guess to start I should mention Tosca. We are coping with her loss now and have started looking back on her with fond memories and happiness of the time we had together. We still miss her and I’m sure we always will, especially given how short her time with us really was (2.5 years is quite short really for a cat), but she had such personality and has left such an impression on our lives that we could never forget her and can always tell what she would have done if she was still around to experience life with us. Mits (our other cat) seems to be coping well with the loss. I think that him seeing her towards the end, and seeing her separate from us all means he knows very well what happened to her. From what Sarah tells me about Mits and Tosca’s last few minutes at home he wouldn’t leave her side most of the time she was in the house, but when she went to separate herself and flopped down in the kitchen Mits had stayed behind in the living room (meanwhile Sarah was getting the cat basket out of the loft to rush her to the emergency vets). To be honest – we kept Mits inside for a week or so after the incident just in case it was malicious, and Mits seemed to pine for the outdoors a lot more than anything else. He’s now back to his usual self.
My nephew was Christened this weekend at the church where my brother and his wife (Isaac’s parents) got married. Marcus and Wendy had asked myself and my other brother Damon to be godfathers to Isaac which was very kind of them – and Isaac was as good as gold for the whole ceremony. He managed to fall and bump his head leading to some tears just before the service started, but a few seconds after it began he sat quietly all the way through. We then went to a nearby pub for post-christening celebrations with all the family (both sides of course) which was wonderful. The weather was glorious and everyone was in a great mood. Isaac enjoyed playing in the play area most of the time, and seemed to really enjoy playing on the slide
I’ll try to remember to get the videos and pictures off my camera and link to them on the site shortly.
Dad’s company is moving premesis quite soon, which should be nice for them since the old place was a little dark and cold, and a tad awkward to find (although I haven’t seen the new place yet I have to admit
) but to help them with the move Sarah and I are going to be heading up again this weekend in order to help with all the odd jobs that need doing around the new place before they can move in – painting, sorting out the carpets, fitting tables etc.
It’s lead to quite a busy week for us (we only had Tuesday evening free this week – which we also filled with doing the house chores) but it should be good. Plus I like the idea of an industrious weekend, as a lot of weekends seem to just pass us by.
I’ve been briefly toying with the idea of changing my car again and going back to an MX5 (perhaps Mk2 this time) however I’ve been to get a valuation on my current car which only came through at £400, and so I don’t think its going to be something we could necessarily do for a long time – by which point I imagine we may be starting to think about a family and the car would not be doable all together for several more years. I may go and have a look at a few garages and see what arrangements I might be able to come to with regards to using the old car as p/x and taking out finance for the difference between the old and the new car, but I shall really have to see. With the wedding coming up – plus us saving for a house – I don’t want to commit myself to too much of an additional overhead.
I’ll keep you posted
